Portrait photography is something I am not an expert in. But once I participated in this fashion shoot, I got a crash course in it! It is so much fun. The most important thing for fashion portrait photography for men is lighting. I used different lighting techniques for different models.
For this model, Benj, I used two continuous lights and a golden reflector. This helped light up his face to show his angles.
For this model, Boston, we used a large flash light. This lit up his face, but only when my camera triggered the light.
I used a small flash with Chris. There was a snoot on it to direct the light on him. The light-triggered when I clicked my camera.
I also used a small flash for this fashion portrait photography on Drake. I used a simple background so he would stand out.
I used a continuous light and an RGB light for Ford. The light behind him was a red light. Using RGB’s is a great way to create contrast with fashion portrait photography for men.
This is Jake! I used continuous light for this model. I then wanted to edit it to black and white to create contrast from the other photos I had. In post, I added more light to his face to bring it out more.
Nathan was a formal model. I used two continuous lights for these photos. This helped him appear crisp and clean in these photos.
Nathan was another formal model. I used two large continuous lights so he was well lit up. This made his features stand out more. In post, I brought more light to his eyes so they would stand out more.
